IN 2009, MY FITNESS PRO CAREER BEGAN

I was a Journalism undergraduate student at Ryerson University, where I was the teacher’s pet in most of the group fitness classes at the university’s Ryerson Athletic Centre.

Choosing my own food and fitness was a cold shower after being guided by my mama and dancing 10-20 hours a week throughout high school, but I began my journey from an unhappy, unhealthy place, insecure about my university weight gain of 30 pounds.

Group fitness became my sanctuary. It felt natural (logical, instinctive) for me to start group fitness.

I’m not your average health coach.

IN 2018, MUSCLES & MINDSET WAS BORN

I clearly remember sitting in the dark, on my couch, from 5-7 a.m. every day, while my husband got ready for work and our one-year-old daughter slept, creating my first online coaching program. I was looking after another baby half the week and working as an RMT the other half of the week.

I was tired of seeing massage therapy patients who wanted to be fixed by a massage therapy session with me. I needed my clients to realize that there was homework and activity changes to be carried on personally after their visit to maintain their results. I had a dream of coaching women holistically – fitness, lifestyle, nutrition and self-care – with the opportunity to help more than one client or patient in a room at one time.

I found my calling as an online health coach. My team and I can coach dozens of women across the continent, at one time, while still giving them one-on-one attention and coaching. It’s the dream.

HEAR ME WHEN I SAY THIS

Authenticity and Self-Love are at the core of Anne Jones Coaching and Muscles & Mindset. I don’t believe that there is one way to eat, one way to get fit, one way to move, one way to stretch… I think the messaging that only one way is ‘right’ creates confusion and overwhelm for women cruising the web just looking for some guidance to reach their greatest potential.

So: for the past four years, my mission has been to share all I’ve learned about taking care of yourself in a way that works for YOU.

a day in the life

When I’m not dropping fitness and time management truths on Facebook and Instagram or coaching my clients, you can find me dancing with my daughter, reading in bed, soaking in the tub, rocking out in my home gym, or planning my next date or vacation with my husband.

If I say, “I’m an online fitness and health coach,” people usually think I’m a BeachBody Coach.
No.

If I say I’m a fitness instructor, Registered Massage Therapist or Yoga teacher…those are skills that I use daily with my clients, but I don’t actively practice them anymore.

If I say I’m a personal training specialist, people think I yell at other people in a gym and don’t eat carbs.
No.

It’s OK. I don’t need a title. I do it all the best way I know how and I trust that I impact and influence those who are meant for me.

The only one & human, through and through.

I am mother to a fierce, precocious little girl named Sophie. Being her mom is my most important job and she is my world. And no, we aren’t having more because you really can’t improve perfection.

wife
My husband and I have been together since we were 20 and 23 – basically babies. He feeds me, supports me, talks me down when necessary, and is the baby daddy of every woman’s dreams (I assume).

Sounds weird, I know, but I have a legit, successful business with a team of half a dozen. don’t think I could ever work for anyone else ever again. And here we are.

I love creating – creating workbooks for my clients, planning yoga classes, writing emails and
posts – I love it all.

teacher
I love to learn and I love to share what I have learned. I am (literally) always in a certification or coaching program and reading several fitness or personal development books at once. I can’t get enough information about my field and I get joy from sharing what I learn with you.
